Young Montenegrin violinist Jelena Jovovic, with the quartet “Sopplimenti Musicali”, will be presented to the Podgorica audience on Thursday, October 30, at the Montenegrin Academy of Sciences and Arts (CANU). The following, last day of the month, the concert “The Story of Four Cities” will also be held in Cetinje, at the Royal Theater Zetski dom, both evenings at 20 p.m., and admission is free. The concert is being realized in cooperation with the “Miloš Karadaglić” Foundation.

"The ensemble "Sopplimenti Musicali" brings together young musicians, students from the University of Music and Applied Arts in Graz, dedicated to discovering and transmitting the beauty of early music through historical instruments. Their performances, marked by freshness and a spirit of exploration, bring new light to the Baroque and early Baroque repertoire for audiences across Europe," Zeta Dom states.

The ensemble, in addition to Jovović, who plays the violin and the historical violin, consists of two Alejandra Segovia (violin and historical violin), Tom Braunling (double bass and historical bass instruments), Omri Avidov (harpsichord and historical keyboard instruments) and all together they will offer the audience a cross-section of the musical life of the European metropolises of the 18th century: Venice, London and Hamburg. They prepared this program for the performance at CANU, while in Cetinje they will enrich it with a musical story about Graz, which connects them, along with the work Johan Jozef Fuks "Trio Sonata in A major, K. 340," adds Zetski Dom.

"Through their program, they combine the intimacy of chamber dialogue and the grandeur of Baroque aesthetics through compositions by Antonio Vivaldi (Trio sonata in C major, op. 1, no. 11, RV 79), George Frideric Handel (G-minor Sonata Trio, Op. 2, Br. 5, HWV 390) i Georg Filip Telemann (Trio Sonata in E-flat major, from Tafelmusik TWV 42:Es1). Each of these compositions awakens a unique musical imagination, taking the audience on a journey through the great European cities of the 18th century and providing insight into the rich musical traditions of that era,” the CANU announcement states.

The concert is organized in cooperation with the "Miloš Karadaglić" Foundation, which awarded a scholarship to the young violinist Jelena Jovović from Kotor for education in the field of classical music at the Foundation's international competition for 2024/2025.

Jovović is a violinist and performer on the historical violin, concertmaster and organizer of the Festival Orchestra of Montenegro. After her undergraduate studies in Montenegro, she completed her undergraduate and master's studies in violin in the concert department and her master's in chamber music at the University of Music and Applied Arts in Graz, where she is currently studying historical violin and performance practice. She has received numerous awards, including the award for the best student in the field of arts in Montenegro, a scholarship from the Miloš Karadaglić Foundation, and a special recognition for humanitarian work from the University of Graz.
