New book of aphorisms Dejan Tofčević "Concert for the Forehead and the Back of the Head" was published on the last day of 2025, symbolically culminating 15 years of long-term and persistent literary work and selection, the author said in a statement.
Tofčević worked on this collection for almost a decade and a half, he points out, but he only included a small number of his most successful works in the final edition, he estimates.
"These are aphorisms that already had a rich life before they were compiled into a book. Many of them have been awarded at domestic and regional festivals, published in print and electronic media that foster satirical and aphoristic forms, and some of the texts have been translated into foreign languages," explains Tofčević.
"Concert for the Forehead and the Back of the Head" continues the line of socially engaged satire for which Tofčević is recognized, but also confirms the maturity of the author who does not rely on quantity, but on the precision and durability of aphoristic thought. His short texts oscillate between bitter humor and sharp social diagnosis, often leaving the reader to laugh and think at the same time," the statement reads.
The book's reviewers are Jovo Nikolic i Bojan Rajević. In their reviews, they emphasize the author's consistency with the satirical form, as well as his ability to summarize complex social and psychological phenomena in one or two sentences.
The book cover, designed by a renowned painter from Serbia, also attracts special attention. Marija ĐurićThe artistic solution visually follows the spirit of aphorisms: concise, suggestive and multi-layered, leaving room for different interpretations, according to the author.
The publication of the book was supported by the Ministry of Culture and Media of Montenegro.
"The book's readership and festival destiny is yet to come," says Tofčević.
