The latest film by the famous Darden brothers, the touching social drama "Young Mothers", will be screened on January 17th in Podgorica, as part of the European Award Season 2026 event, organized by the Montenegrin Film Archive.
The screening will be held in the “Gojko Kastratović” Hall at 20 pm and is also the last film to be shown as part of this event. Admission is free.
One of the most notable European releases of the past year, "Young Mothers" follows the lives of five teenage girls living in a home for young mothers in the Belgian city of Liège, according to the synopsis.
"Each of them carries their own wounds and struggles: from domestic violence and lack of parental support, to social marginalization and economic hardship. The Dardens, known for their humanistic realism and deep empathy for characters on the margins of society, create a gentle yet powerful portrait of togetherness, solidarity, and the struggle for dignity in this film," the announcement states.
The Film Archive reminds us that the film has been critically acclaimed for its authenticity, subtle direction, and strong acting performances, but also for representing one of the key achievements of contemporary European social drama.
"The best of Europe on the big screen. See you at the Cinematheque," the public institution said in a statement.
In the movie Like Darden i Jean-Pierre Dardenne, starring: Lusi Laruel, Babet Verbek, Elsa Uben, Žanina Haloj Fokan i Samia Hilmi.
