Singer and actress Senka Veletanlić has passed away at the age of 90.

The news of her death was announced by her son, Vasil Hadžimanov, on social media.

"This morning, my mother Senka Veletanlić left us after a serious illness. She left quietly, with dignity, in her sleep, like a lady, just as befits her. I love you, mom. Thank you, mom," Vasil Hadžimanov said in the post.

She was born on May 27, 1936 in Zagreb as Senija, where she graduated from the Faculty of Economics, according to the NIN archive.

She was three years old when she started singing on the radio, and during her studies she sang in famous Zagreb choirs, where she learned the secrets of the singing craft and soon became a soloist.

She toured all over Europe, made her first recordings, and performed independently as a pop music performer at the once famous festival in Opatija. She believes that she only started singing seriously when she came to Belgrade. In fact, her singing career began in 1960, as she says, "as an interpreter of beautiful songs."

Together with her husband Zafira Hadžimanov, she recorded many successful television shows, musicals and chansons, and their solo concert at Atelje 212 was the opening of the basement stage.

Their joint recitals Pas pjevačica (based on Zafiro's book of the same name), as well as Chansons on Paper, which they performed as part of a Belgrade Spring, are very impressive. As a versatile artistic personality, Senka Veletanlić also dabbled in acting.

In 1972, she sang "Mi znamo sve" (We Know Everything) with her sister Bisera. The Veletanlić sisters are remembered as legends of domestic hits. Somewhat later, each of them found their own path, writes N1.

In addition to regularly receiving the best ratings from the expert jury at domestic festivals and thus the label of a non-commercial artist, Senka remained faithful to the musical style that she herself built with her appearance, behavior and attitude - she sang in front of 20.000 people in Cuba, had her own audience in the Soviet Union, starred in the films "Svanuće" by Nikola Tanhofer and "Tri" by Aleksandar Petrović - and only released her first LP after two decades in the entertainment industry.
