The chamber concert "Dvorak - Bohemian Rhapsody" by prominent members of the Montenegrin Symphony Orchestra (CSO) will be held tomorrow in the Chamber Hall of the Music Center of Montenegro (MCCG) at 20 p.m.
The first chamber concert in 2026 will feature: violinists Marija Đuranović i Nenad Jovanovic, violist Uros Lapcevic, cellist Milan Ninković and double bassist Zoran Zakrajsek.
"The evening will be dedicated to one of the most important Czech composers and the founder of Czech instrumental music - Anotnjina Dovržaka. In the rich opus of this composer, a significant place is occupied by: symphonies, concertos, symphonic poems, vocal-instrumental works and chamber music. Dvorak's most popular works were created under the impression of his stay in the USA, such as the "Symphony from the New World", the Cello Concerto in B minor, the "American" String Quartet, etc. These works sublimate the influences of black and Indian folklore, while looking at the entire opus - Dvorak's compositional style is based on melodies from Czech folklore", the MCCG statement states.
The composer completed the late Romantic String Quintet in G major, Op. 77, in 1888, they remind us.
"This four-movement piece skillfully portrays classical form interwoven with Czech folklore influences. The "American" String Quartet, composed in 1893, one of the most popular works of this genre, is inspired by elements of African-American and Native American culture and music and is recognizable by its use of the pentatonic scale, which gives it a specific "American" character, while at the same time retaining a deep Czech nostalgia and European classical form," the statement says.
The Music Center also reminds us of Dvorak's words:
"Having a sublime idea is nothing special. An idea comes by itself, even if it is beautiful and great, a person cannot claim credit for it. To shape something truly great from a good idea is the most difficult task; that is the essence of true art," he said during a lecture at the Prague Conservatory...
