The new season of the film program "Retrospectives" will open at the Montenegrin Cinematheque with an exclusive film series Chan-wuk Park, one of the most provocative and influential authors of contemporary world cinema.

The program will begin on Saturday, February 7th at 20 p.m., in the “Gojko Kastratović” hall, with the film “Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance” from 2002, and admission is free.

"This is a work that laid the foundation for one of the darkest trilogies in modern cinema. The film follows a deaf-mute young man who, in an attempt to save his sick sister, is drawn into a spiral of violence and revenge that soon spirals out of control. One desperate act sets off a chain of tragedies with no winners," the announcement states.

The Kinoteka adds that the raw, emotional and uncompromising film introduces the audience to the dark and morally complex world of the prominent director.

"Park Chan-wook is a key figure in the South Korean film wave, known for his visually impressive and thematically provocative films that redefined the boundaries of thrillers, melodramas, and genre films," the Kinoteka points out.

The “Retrospective” program takes place on Saturdays at 20 p.m., and the organizers invite the audience to “experience films that have left their mark on history.”
