"The touch from which primordial knowledge begins... In order to sense what lies beneath the skin, the artist demands of herself to stop, feel and see, which suggests and leads towards creative continuity" - wrote, among other things, the art historian Aleksandra Butorović about creativity Marija Vemic Abramovic.

Solo exhibition "Touch Yourself" artist from Nikšić, opened on February 12th in Podgorica, in the gallery of the Crowne Plaza Podgorica hotel, where it will be available to visitors until March 12th.

"The exhibition, which does not involve an official opening, brings a selection of works from the eponymous cycle that the artist has been continuously developing over several years, exploring through contemporary visual expression the themes of identity, body, emotion and inner transformation," the exhibition organizers said in a statement.

The cycle "Touching Yourself" by Marija Vemić Abramović represents an intimate visual diary of self-discovery, the statement adds, in which lines and colors intertwine into a strong, expressive visual language.

"Through layered compositions, dynamic strokes, and emphasized emotionality, the artist builds a space between inner turmoil and the need for balance, opening a dialogue between personal experience and universal questions of existence," she writes about the exhibition.

Butorović, who signs the text accompanying the exhibition, points out that Vemić Abramović's work is characterized by the process of metamorphosis, the ritual of conflict and reconciliation, as well as the constant search for one's own identity through touch, gesture and trace.

"It is an artistic expression that does not confine itself to clearly defined forms, but remains open, fluid and introspective. The works presented at the exhibition were created in different stages of artistic development, but they are connected by a consistent authorial style and a strong need for honest, direct expression," he points out.

The statement adds that "Touching Yourself" does not offer ready-made answers, but rather invites the viewer to quiet, personal questioning and an encounter with their own inner space.
