The play "Mediterranean Breviary, on the waves of Radio Mediteran" will be performed today in Herceg Novi, at the Park Hall at 20 pm, as part of the Herceg Novi April Theater Festival (HAPS).
The producers of the play are the Radio Theatre “Bajsić and Friends” and the City Theatre “Gavella” Zagreb, and the director is Pavlica Bajsic Brazzoduro. The author's project Bajsić Brazzoduro was created based on the cult book "Mediterranean Breviary" Predrag Matvejevića and “Tales from the neighboring port (portulanu)” Olje Savičević Ivančević, and premiered in March 2025.
"For the purposes of the 'Mediterranean Breviary', Matvejević explored the Mediterranean in three ways: by traveling, studying old maps and reading dictionaries, diaries and travelogues. This performance takes us further, to the fourth and fifth journeys. The fourth journey is shaped by Savičević Ivančević, bringing Mediterranean cities to life through stories about people, birds, everyday life and memories - through scenes, anecdotes and small fragments of life. The fifth journey brings the 'dark melancholy' of the Mediterranean, through rich soundscapes, field audio recordings and music inspired by the Breviary, with the authentic voice of Matvejević himself," the announcement from HAPS highlights.
The play blurs the boundaries between radio and theater, and musicians and actors will bring a unique stage experience to the audience: Filip Šovagović, Sven Medvešek, Dino Brazzoduro, Nenad Kovačić, Chisomo Makunje - Maku, Una Patafta, Anja Matišić, Antonija Stanišić Šperanda, Franjo Dijak, Domagoj Janković, Hrvoje Klobučar.
"Experience the Mediterranean in a completely different way," says HAPS.
