With a concert by the choir "Holy Prevlački mučenici" from Tivat under the baton of conductor Ivan KomnenovicOn Thursday evening, the second international choir festival "Sounds from the waterfront" was officially opened in the Church of St. Nicholas in Ulcinj.
The festival is moving today to the hall of the Cultural Center, where, until Sunday, when the closing ceremony is scheduled, choirs from the country and countries in the region will perform.
In a statement, signed by the festival organizer Vera Androvic It is stated that this year "Sounds from the Riva" will bring together 17 ensembles and around 450 participants.
During the festival, the 660th anniversary of the birth will be celebrated. Jelena Balšić and 170 years since birth Stevan Stojanović Mokranjac.
"On this occasion, we will have the honor of hearing the composition 'Vertical Power' by the author Slobodanke Bobana Dabović Đurić from Podgorica, a work that celebrates with music the unwavering spirit and strength of Jelena Balšić, this great historical figure. In addition, with deep respect we also mark the 170th anniversary of the birth of Stevan Stojanović Mokranjac, the founder of choral music, whose hands laid the foundations on which we build our song today," the statement reads.
It is added that the festival also celebrates the future of music.
"That is why we are very excited to announce the premiere of a children's opera by a Croatian composer." Franjo Štefanović "The Queen of the Forest" under the baton Ana Kovacic", performed by the children's choir "Bajićevi slavuji" from Novi Sad, who bring us the joy and energy of the youngest artists, reminding us of the importance of nurturing musical talent from an early age," it is written, adding that the concert is intended for children from elementary schools and kindergartens.
As stated, this year's festival will also exude authentic local flavor.
"A special gift to the audience is a new choral arrangement of the famous Ulcinj song "Erë e lëtë" ("Light Breeze"), which was written for this occasion Isljam Adžemović", thus preserving the precious melody of our region from oblivion. This song was sponsored by the Ulcinj Tourist Organization, while the event itself was supported by the Ulcinj Municipality and numerous local sponsors," the statement reads.
It is said that "Sounds from the Waterfront" is not just a musical event, but a space for meeting, exchanging and connecting artists and audiences.
"Special emphasis is placed on joint performances and the creation of an authentic festival experience that goes beyond classic concert forms. One of the central moments of the festival will be the festival choir - a joint performance of all choirs, symbolically celebrating the power of music that connects people and spaces," it states.
As part of the festival, a seminar for conductors, professors and lovers of choral music will also be organized.
"They are preparing 4 compositions that they will perform at one of the five concerts. We invite all music lovers to come, feel the rhythm of the waves and voices, and write another page in the musical history of our city together with us," the statement reads.
