Between the sky and the sea

A gala evening entitled “Between the Sky and the Sea” will officially open the third Tivat Music Festival under the banner of opera on June 25th. TMF will begin for the first time on the Summer Stage, and the renewed Boka Kotorska Symphony Orchestra will make its premiere appearance to the Tivat audience, under the baton of the chief conductor, maestro Mladen Tarbuk. With the City Choir "Jadran", which is under the auspices of the Tivat Cultural Center, led by professor Andrea Orlando Tripović, soloists will perform Ermin Asceric, tenor i Milica Lalosevic, soprano. The audience can expect a lavish musical evening filled with Verdi's most beautiful arias and choral numbers from the operas "Nabucco", "La Traviata" and "Rigoletto", along with refined pearls of operetta literature. Maestro Tarbuk speaks about the Orchestra and the program ahead of the opening of the Festival.

"There are a lot of musicians in Boka Bay, and the formation of the BSO is of mutual benefit both for the musicians in that area and for the audience, which, I would say, has not had a real symphony orchestra formation until now. It is also a question of sound and repertoire. Preparations for the concert are going very well, and the program is quite extensive. We also have two solo singers and the "Jadran" choir, so we had to find the right compositions that would respond to their abilities, and that they would like to sing. We have rounded off the program, and what will be interesting to the audience is that it carries the greatest pearls of the great composer's opus. Giuseppe Verdi. We are trying to increase the visibility of the Orchestra and to perform with a diverse program, because the repertoire still needs to be built. Building it today means mastering a very wide repertoire. The opera “The Mistress’s Maid” is also being prepared for the TMF Giovanni Battista Pergolesi", a work from the Neapolitan Baroque, and it is a cheerful, exemplary musical comedy," said the maestro, expecting that the audience would enjoy it and that they would be satisfied," says Tarbuk.

Clarinetist Lara Bubanja, one of the founders of the orchestra and its music producer, is looking forward to her first performance in front of the Tivat audience and with the "Jadran" choir.

"In addition to being a special artistic event, the performance of the Boka Bay Symphony Orchestra at this renowned music festival also represents a paradigm of togetherness, cooperation and cultural connection between the three cities of Boka Bay.

"Professional musical artists from Tivat, Kotor and Herceg Novi create a unique soundscape that confirms that culture transcends borders and connects people through shared values, talent and, most importantly, emotion, and for the first time they will present themselves to the Tivat audience. We are looking forward to a joint performance with the City Choir 'Jadran'. This is our first collaboration with a choral ensemble and we believe that it will continue in the future," she said, noting that out of a total of 45 permanent members, 14 Tivat residents currently play in the orchestra, with a tendency for that number to increase.
