The exhibition "Repurposing: Space and Word" by the artist was opened last night at the Gallery of the Museum of Contemporary Art of Montenegro. Irene Lagator Pejović, curators Natalia VujoševićThe exhibition will be open to the public until June 21, 2026.

The project represents the artist's response to the invitation of curator Natalija Vujošević to reflect on the legacy of architect Svetlana Kana Radević, her relationship to the environment, architectural and social heritage, "transition" and intergenerational solidarity, precisely in the space and using the example of the MSUCG Gallery.

Installed in the building of the former Lexicographic Institute of Montenegro, which was designed by Svetlana Kana Radević, which has been repurposed over time, the exhibition raises questions of spatial memory, layers of decisions, compromises and forgetting, exploring the relationship between the original purpose and contemporary transformations of space. Through research, conversations and artistic interventions, the project illuminates the complex connections between work, institutions and the public good, rethinking architecture as an ethical and social act.

The exhibition bypasses monumentalization and representational narratives, focusing on Svetlana Kana Radević's less visible projects realized in collaboration with social enterprises, pointing to architecture as a practice that arises within specific social and production conditions. At the center of the reflection are the architect's words: "All decisions are made for man, in the name of man. In the past, the architect worked for the individual, today he works for society. This relationship between society and art is very interactive."

Through a shared field of thought and dialogue between the artist, curator and project collaborator, conservator Nadje Bakovic, "repurposing" is thought of as a methodology of correction and training the return of sociality through direct actions, as opposed to the performative practices of neoliberalism.
