The multiple award-winning play "The Other Side", an original project by the director Boris Liješević, will be performed tonight on the CNP Main Stage at 20 pm, opening the first Montenegrin Theatre Showcase. English subtitles are provided.
"The Reverse Side is a story about a time whose God has become money, and prayer - acquisition. About a time that does not choose means. About exhausting debtors to the last cent. About a man who no longer sees man. About a man who forgets about existence. A story about a time that has lost its face and no longer distinguishes the face from the reverse side," emphasized director Liješević.
The roles are played by: Aleksandar Radulovic, Lazar Djurdjevic, Kristina Obradovic, Zana Gardasevic-Bulatovic, Nada Vukcevic, Jadranka Mamic, Danilo Celebic, Zoran Vujovic, Ana Vujosevic, Mirjana Spaic, Tihana Culafic, Jelena Minic, Jelena Nenezic, Julija Milacic Petrovic - Njegos, Jovan Dabovic, Ivona Rakovic i Anđela Marunović.
The play “Naličje” won exceptional awards and recognitions throughout the region last year. At the 70th Sterijin Pozorje in Novi Sad, the Sterija Award for Best Actor went to Aleksandar Radulović for the role of Vuk, while the Sterija Award for Directing went to Boris Liješević. The success of the national theatre with the play “Naličje” was also confirmed at the 65th International Theatre Festival MESS in Sarajevo, where the “Rejhan Demiržić” award for best young actors went to Lazar Đurđević and Anđela Marunović. At the 27th Teatar Fest Petar Kočić in Banja Luka, “Naličje” received the Special Award for the visual identity of the play, for the set design and costumes, while the “Step into Courage” award for the play as a whole was awarded by the RTV RS jury.
At the recently concluded International Theatre Festival “5RE” in Veles, “Naličje” won the Grand Prix for the best overall play, while the award for the best leading male role went to actor Aleksandar Radulović, and the award for the best direction went to Boris Liješević. For the leading role and direction of the play, Radulović and Liješević also won the Grand Prize of the Montenegrin National Theatre, which is awarded for the most significant artistic result in 2025.
In addition to festival and domestic performances, "Naličje" was previously performed at the Marin Držić Theatre in Dubrovnik and the Macedonian National Theatre in Skopje.
Playwrights are Stela Mišković and Stefan Bošković, costume designer Lejla Hodzic, stage designer Andreja Rondović, composer Nina Perovic, choreographer Tamara Vujošević-Mandić, assistant director Nataša Milićević i Mirjana Spajić, scenography assistant Jelena Ivančević, costume designer's assistant Gordana Bulatović, and executive producer Danilo Milatović.
The Montenegrin Theatre Showcase, organized by the Ministry of Culture and Media, represents a strategic platform for the international promotion of contemporary Montenegrin theatre production and the development of professional connections with relevant European and international partners in the field of performing arts. In addition to "The Other Side", CNP will also participate in the Showcase program with the performances "The Case of Medea", according to Euripides in directing Diego de Brea, as well as "How Far to the End", co-authored by Julije Milačić Petrović-Njegoš i Tamara Vujošević-Mandić, in co-production with the Ballo Ballet Company.
The play "Death in Dubrovnik" by director Marko Zdravko will also be performed at Scena Studio. Petar Pejaković, produced by the Drama Studio Prazan prostor in collaboration with the Human Rights Action.
