New monograph by 17 authors

The Tivat City Library has announced the release of a new monograph "Tivat", a representative publication that, through texts and rich photographic material, brings a comprehensive story about the development of the city - from its historical beginnings to the modern day.

The monograph was created over two years and brings together seventeen authors who, through various thematic units, cover the history of Tivat, the development of the city, culture, customs, education, sports, tourism and natural heritage. A special segment of the publication consists of unique archival and contemporary photographs that document the changes of the city over time.

"Tivat is a city that has been a frequent motif for photographs on the internet in the last decade, a place from which numerous reports and television appearances have been filmed and to which many dream of moving, and which now preserves its most important stories within these covers. With a multitude of unique photographs and texts, the story of Tivat is told from the time when the city received its first monograph (1983) to the present day. It was worth going back to the further history of the city and putting together a comprehensive mosaic of the city that has awakened and is changing day by day. In the two years that this monograph took to create, moments were recorded that can reveal to the reader the secret of how a small town, although born a long time ago, carrying on its back the complex history of its origin, managed to remain young and to look as if it had just been created with each new day," the City Library announced.

In the monograph "Tivat", readers will be able to learn how the city was founded and how it evolved from prehistory and antiquity, and settlements on hills and fields, to a city on the coast of the Pina, how the city later developed, what has accompanied it throughout history to the present day, what the sea has brought to it and what it has taken away, and how it miraculously became a favorite Montenegrin coastal city in recent years.

"This wondrous journey has been prepared for you by seventeen authors who know this city well. You will read about the people and customs, tradition, culture, education, sports, the development of tourism in the city, natural cultural monuments, and the richly illustrated monograph will provide you with a superb experience through unique, never-before-seen photographs," the City Library stated.

They pointed out that the new monograph "Tivat" represents a kind of mosaic of a city that is continuously developing, while at the same time preserving the authenticity of the space and life by the sea.

The new edition, which will soon be presented to the public, will be available for purchase at the Tivat City Library, while library members are entitled to a discount.
