A series of cultural events in London dedicated to the twentieth anniversary of the restoration of Montenegrin independence, under the auspices of the MonteNet organization, one of the oldest and most prominent associations of Montenegrins and friends of Montenegro abroad, began last night with a screening of the film "The Deluge" at the prestigious Ealing Picturehouse, the organization announced.

As stated in the press release, the film was directed by a young, versatile Montenegrin artist, Dušanka Belada-Bošković, who, before the start of the screening, addressed the packed audience in perfect English.

"The audience greeted the talented artist with a long applause, especially her touching reflection on the significance of the anniversary. The film "The Flood" explores themes of identity, ecology and social divisions within Montenegro, focusing in particular on the urban and ecological controversy surrounding the flooding of Šavnik and the referendum on the construction of a hydroelectric power plant," the statement said.

The film deals with the unjustifiably high ambitions of small people and human weaknesses that arise from sudden circumstances.

The film was produced by Radio Television of Montenegro (RTCG) and raises challenging questions about the complexity of Montenegrin society.

"The MonteNet organization would like to thank everyone who contributed to this unique event through participation in the promotion or engagement, especially the Montengro-UK Society, Our Theatre in London and above all Adriana and Željko Radojević," the statement reads.
