The gala concert of the Chamber Orchestra of the Accademia di Santa Sofia from Naples will be held tomorrow at the Main Stage of the Montenegrin National Theatre at 20 pm.

The program entitled "Music and Film - Two Different Inspirations" features the most famous compositions Nina Rote (Nino Rota) i Ennio Morricone (Ennio Morricone) from the cult films "A Fistful of Dollars", "The Good, the Bad, the Ugly", "Once Upon a Time in the Wild West", "The Godfather", "Amarcord" and others.

The Santa Sofia Academy Orchestra is performing for the first time in Montenegro and the Montenegrin National Theater, and after Podgorica, as part of a world tour, they will perform in Helsinki, Budapest, Trzebnica, Los Angeles, Cluj and other international centers.

Nino Rota and Ennio Morricone are considered the greats of film music in Italian and world cinema, whose art redefined the relationship between image and sound. Although they belonged to different generations and had different styles, both elevated film music to an autonomous art form, winning prestigious awards, including an Oscar.

Rota is known for his unbreakable collaboration with Federico Fellini for whose films he created dreamy and circus-like atmospheres. His music is characterized by a melancholic, yet playful melodic line. The most important masterpieces were created for the films "The Godfather" (Oscar for the music of the second part of the film), 8½, La dolce vita, Amarcord, The Leopard. His style encompasses neoclassicism, jazz and elements of folk music, with always a refined and recognizable formal elegance.

Morricone can be said to have fundamentally changed the language of film music, especially through his collaboration with Sergio Leone, introducing unusual sounds such as whistles, anvils and human screams into Western scores. The most important musical masterpieces relate to the films: Once Upon a Time in the West, Cinema Paradiso, The Mission, The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, The Hateful Eight (Oscar for Original Score). His style is experimental and versatile, from the avant-garde dissonances of the Gruppo di Improvvisazione Nuova Consonanza to melodies imbued with deep lyricism.

The Santa Sofia Academy Ensemble brings together some of the most distinguished Italian instrumentalists, united by a distinct chamber approach to music performance. It operates according to the principle of a concertmaster, without a conductor, giving priority to musical interaction and sound balance. The orchestra's repertoire is wide and varied: from masterpieces of Neapolitan music of the 18th century to contemporary music.

As a rare example on the national scene, the orchestra's concert activity takes place continuously in several Italian regions, with a constant presence on international tours in prestigious centers, including St. Petersburg, Oslo, Prague, Tokyo, New York, Fez, El Djem and Istanbul.

The visit to Montenegro is being realized with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Italy.
