The 20th Podgorica International Book and Education Fair concluded with a ceremony of awarding prizes and recognitions at TC Big Fashion. The event once again brought together numerous publishers, authors, artists and book lovers, confirming its status as one of the most important cultural events in Montenegro.
During the seven days, the Fair offered a rich literary and educational program, with a large number of promotions, talks and meetings with local, regional and international authors. The organizers emphasize that this year's edition was among the most successful so far in terms of the number of exhibitors, programs, guests and visitors.
The winners of the fair awards were decided by an expert jury consisting of: academician Siniša Jelušić, president of the jury, Prof. Dr. Slavica Perović and an academic painter Marina Vesovic.
The award for best publisher went to "Jesenski Turk" from Zagreb and "Karpos" from Belgrade, for their long-standing commitment to high standards in the fields of humanities, literature and social sciences.
The award for the publishing venture of the year went to the publishing house "Arhipelag" from Belgrade for books in the field of historiography within the "Vreme" library, as well as the edition "Selected Works of Archimandrite Dionysius Miković I–VII", published by the Public Institution National Library of Budva, IIU Svetigora Cetinje and "Štampar Makarije" from Belgrade.
CANU was awarded for the best edition, for the edition "Lexicons", while the award for the advancement of children's publishing went to the publishing house "Darkwood" from Belgrade, for its contribution to the popularization of comics and reading culture among young people.
The best-equipped book was declared the book "Lagator", published by the Public Institution Museums and Galleries of Podgorica, while the award for regional and cultural cooperation was given to the publishing house "Partenon" from Belgrade.
The award for the promotion of reading went to "Planetopia" from Zagreb, and the award for the best equipped stand went to the Parliament of Montenegro.
Special awards were presented to the Cetinje Academy of Fine Arts, the Institute for Textbooks and Teaching Aids, the Đina Vrbica Institution, the Ljubica Popović Institution, and the MTEL Montenegro company.
Fair Director Ivana Ivanovic She assessed that the anniversary edition fully justified expectations and further strengthened the significance of the event.
"This year's fair significantly pushed the boundaries - both in terms of the number of exhibitors and the number of programs, guests and audiences. Podgorica lived books, culture and dialogue for seven days, and the large attendance showed that books still have a strong place in society," said Ivanović.
She said that the organizers are already beginning preparations for the next fair, with the aim of making the event even more meaningful and successful.
