Museums as bridges: dialogue in a divided world

On the occasion of International Museum Day, the Public Institution Museums and Galleries of Budva are organizing a panel discussion entitled "Museums as Bridges: Dialogue in a Divided World", which will be held tonight at 19 pm, on the Museum plateau.

"The event will bring together representatives of the cultural scene and local government, with the aim of opening a dialogue about the role of museums in contemporary society as a space for connection, understanding and social inclusion," the announcement states.

The following will be speaking as part of the panel discussion: ethnologist Ljubica Miličić, art historian Miljan Zivkovic and representative of the Secretariat for Social Activities of the Municipality of Budva Nina Mrvaljevic, which will consider the importance of culture in connecting communities, the ways in which museums respond to contemporary social challenges, as well as their role in creating spaces for dialogue and mutual understanding.

"This year's International Museum Day highlights the importance of museums as places for meeting, exchanging ideas and strengthening social connections," the organizers remind in a statement.

The program of the Public Institution Museums and Galleries of Budva was inspired by this year's theme "Museums Unite a Divided World", which highlights the importance of museums as spaces for dialogue, understanding and connecting communities through culture and shared heritage.

In addition to the program, all visitors will be provided with free admission and a tour of the museum's exhibits, and during the day, expert guided tours of the permanent exhibits, educational visits for students, as well as interactive content intended for audiences of different generations will be organized.

A special segment of the program is the interactive "Message Wall", through which visitors will have the opportunity to share their impressions and thoughts on the role of museums in contemporary society.

"Also, the photo challenge "Museum Through Your Eyes" allows visitors to view the museum space from a personal and creative perspective," the organizers add, saying that marking International Museum Day is an opportunity to once again highlight the importance of museums as places of meeting, exchange of ideas, and preservation of cultural heritage accessible to all generations.
