The Summer Art Salon is organized by the Association of Fine Artists of Montenegro (ULUCG) this year in honor of the 80th anniversary of the Association's existence and 20 years since the restoration of Montenegro's independence.
The exhibition "Where faces touch the sun, the shadow becomes light" will open on May 19th at 20 pm at the ULUCG Art Pavilion in Podgorica.
"The exhibition brings together contemporary artistic practices and authors whose works reflect on the relationships between light and shadow, presence and absence, intimacy and collective experience, opening a space for dialogue between different poetics and visual sensibilities," the ULUCG statement states.
The third edition of the Salon is dedicated to important anniversaries that testify to the continuity of cultural identity, artistic creativity and institutional development of the Montenegrin art scene, according to the organizers.
The ULUCG Summer Art Salon itself represents a significant segment of the Association's annual exhibition program.
"It is aimed at affirming contemporary visual art and fostering dialogue between artists, institutions and the audience, confirming the permanent role of ULUCG in shaping and preserving the Montenegrin cultural space," the announcement reads.
The exhibition will be officially opened by the Prince Nikola Petrović Njegoš, with speeches by an art historian and theorist Kristine Senic and president of the Association of Fine Artists of Montenegro Svetlana Dragojević.
