The “Allegria” string quartet from Podgorica announces two concerts, today in Podgorica and on June 10 in Kotor, in memory of the great composer. Ivan Brkanovic, born in Kotor.

On the occasion of the 120th anniversary of Brkanović's birth, the audience will have the opportunity to hear two exceptional works of his chamber music - the Second and Third String Quartets, performed by an ensemble recognized for its dedication to chamber music and interpretations of works by domestic and foreign authors.

The program will be performed first tonight at the "Risto Stijović" Gallery in Podgorica at 20 pm, and then on June 10 at 20 pm at the Monastery Complex of Saint Nicholas in Prčanj.

"The Second and Third String Quartets, created in different periods of Brkanović's creativity, testify to the artistic power of the author who left a deep mark on the Croatian and regional musical heritage. Through a rich musical expression and recognizable compositional style, Brkanović achieved a significant place among the most prominent creators of the 20th century," the statement says. The concerts are being realized within the framework of the project of the NGO Honos from Podgorica, with the financial support of the Fund for the Protection and Exercise of Minority Rights of Montenegro.
