Matija Jovanović's project "On the Dead" among selected projects for workshop in Zagreb

The short film project "About the Dead" (About the Dead) director Matthias Jovanovic was selected among ten projects to participate in this year's edition of the international workshop and pitching forum "Let's Pitch Some Shorts!". In competition with a large number of applications from ten European countries participating in the program, the project stood out for its precise directorial vision and the way it questions patterns of inherited silence, obedience, and family pressure through a family burial ritual.

"Let's Pitch Some Shorts!" is organized by the MEDIA desks of Cyprus, Montenegro, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Greece, Croatia, Hungary, Malta, Slovenia and Serbia. The program is intended for directors, screenwriters and other film professionals developing short feature films, with the aim of improving their skills in presenting projects to producers, distributors, sales agents and a wider audience.

The workshop will be held from June 15th to 17th at the VERN University in Zagreb, led by a German producer. Brighter Behesht Nejad (Roshanak Behesht Nedjad), while the final pitching forum will be organized on June 18th at the Kaptol Sinema Butik cinema. The most successful project will be awarded the main prize of 3.000 euros, with additional consulting and strategic awards for further project development.

Matija Jovanović is a director and screenwriter from Podgorica who completed his undergraduate and master's studies in directing at the Faculty of Dramatic Arts in Cetinje. His short film "El Dorado" was screened at the Reykjavik Film Festival in Iceland and the Sarajevo Film Festival, and won awards at several international festivals. The Film Center of Montenegro has supported the development of several of his projects, including "Rebellion" and the short film "Murphy's Lex Specialis".
