The Tivat City Library announced two important cultural programs at a press conference yesterday - the promotion of the new monograph "Tivat" and the event "Tivat Literary Summer 2026".
The details were presented to journalists by the director of Tivat's youngest cultural institution. Vesna Barbić, editor-in-chief of the publication Dr. Miomir Abović and PR of the Municipality of Tivat Branka Celanović.
The Municipality of Tivat wholeheartedly supports the activities of the City Library, Čelanović emphasized.
"We are looking forward to another Tivat Literary Summer. This means, above all, quality titles, renowned authors from Montenegro and the region, and a real literary treat for all citizens of Tivat and guests," she said.
Čelanović emphasized that the introduction to the Literary Summer is also one of the most important cultural events of the year – the promotion of the city's new monograph.
"President of the Municipality of Tivat Željko Komnenović initiated the start of work on a new monograph. The City Library took over the implementation of that project and in mid-June, a new monograph of Tivat will see the light of day, after more than 40 years,” Čelanović pointed out.
The promotion of the new monograph "Tivat", a major publishing project of the City Library, will be held on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, starting at 19 p.m., in the Multimedia Hall of the Municipality of Tivat. Visitors will have the opportunity to purchase the monograph at a promotional price, while members of the City Library of Tivat will be provided with special purchase conditions. The monograph will be available in the Library premises after the promotion.
The Director of the City Library, Vesna Barbić, thanked the Municipality and the Mayor for their great support and cooperation, emphasizing that the monograph is the result of two years of joint work.
"It is the fruit of two years of work by our institution and a team of 17 authors. Anyone who wants to hear more about this publication and get a discount on purchasing the monograph is welcome," said Barbić.
The opening of the "Tivat Literary Summer 2026" event is scheduled for Friday, June 19, when another publishing project of the Tivat City Library will be presented to the public - the photomonography "Who Lives in the Sea" by Tivat resident Marko Vrbanić.
"This is a project funded by the Tivat City Library. I am happy that the publishing industry is alive and well despite large projects such as the Tivat monograph. This city has many topics that need to be researched and addressed," Barbić pointed out.
The literary summer program will continue throughout June and August, while the final event is planned for September.
The following programs are planned as part of the event:
jun – Marko Vrbanic, presentation of the photomonography "Who Lives in the Sea"
jun – Vladimir Vujovic, presentation of the novel "A Conversation with the Witch"
jun – Zoran Predin, presentation of the novel "Cirkus astralis"
August – Venko Andonovski, presentation of the novel "Navel of Light"
August – Dragan Velikić, presentation of the novel "The Viennese Novel"
September – Jurica Pavičić, presentation of the novel "Matchmakers"
"We skipped July when planning the program, because last year it proved to be a better recipe for reaching the audience. July is really full of different events and we wanted to avoid overlaps," said Barbić.
She thanked the Tivat Museum and Gallery, because this year the literary summer program will be implemented in their space, in the garden of the Buća-Luković summer house.
Speaking about this year's program, the editor-in-chief of the City Library, Dr. Miomir Abović, introduced the participants and the content of the event, highlighting the importance of the authors and works that will be presented to the Tivat audience during the summer. He particularly highlighted the novel "Conversation with the Witch" by the young Bar author Vladimir Vujović, which attracted the attention of the literary public and was shortlisted for the NIN Award.
