"The Mistress' Maid" on the stages of Tivat and Kotor

As part of this year's programs of the International KotorArt Festival and the Tivat Music Festival, on July 23rd and 24th, the audience will have the opportunity to enjoy one of the most famous comic operas of all time, "La serva padrona" (The Servant Mistress). Giovanni Battista Pergolesi.

The opera will be performed on July 23rd at the Porto Montenegro Army Hall in Tivat, in cooperation with and as part of the Tivat Music Festival, while a day later, on July 24th, it will also be performed at the Nikola Đurković Cultural Center in Kotor, as part of the regular KotorArt program.

This masterpiece of Italian Baroque was created in 1733 as an intermezzo between acts of a serious opera, but it quickly took on a life of its own and became one of the most performed works of operatic literature. With its wit, simplicity and lifelike characters, “The Maid of the House” is considered one of the key works in the emergence and affirmation of opera buffa - Italian comic opera.

The story follows the resourceful and witty maid Serpina, who manages to overturn established social relations and become the mistress of her employer Uberto's house. Although written almost three centuries ago, the opera still captivates audiences today with its universal themes of love, power, social conventions, and human ingenuity.

Directed by a Croatian director Paolo Tisljaric. The role of Serpine is played by a soprano Petra Radulović, while the character of Uberto will be played by the bass Jakov KalajzicThe actor also participates in the opera. Matija GrabićThe music will be performed by the Boka Kotorska Symphony Orchestra Chamber Ensemble under the baton of Maestro Mladena Tarbuka.
