Montenegrin feature film “The Black Trumpet” directed by Bojan Stijović, will have its world premiere today at the Bishkek International Film Festival in Kyrgyzstan. The film will be screened at the Broadway Cinema Theater as part of the international competition selection, and is in the running for the Snow Leopard grand prize.
"I am very honored that the film's first meeting with the audience will be at a festival that brings together authors and film professionals from all over the world. Thank you to the film crew, collaborators and everyone who believed in this project from the very beginning," said Stijović on that occasion.
Genre-wise, the film intertwines thriller and drama, with a strong presence of dark humor, and through all of this the story tells about the relationship between two brothers, family ties, patriarchal patterns, the problems of a contemporary society that strives for departure, success, public recognition...
"All these ideas fit into a mix of genres, so the film can be a psychological drama, although it is also a thriller in structure, and it certainly has elements of dark humor and parody," Stijović said earlier, at a closed screening for the media.
On that occasion, he also pointed out that the entire film crew relied on authenticity, so the extras were also locals from Grahovo, where the film was shot for 20 days in different locations.
"These are mostly people from the area, hunters with strange occupations and specific physical appearance. The set design is also original, we didn't bring anything from outside, everything was searched for in houses in Grahovo and the surrounding area," revealed Stijović.
The focus of the plot is the famous writer Maksim Grahovac, who returns to his birthplace after 10 years abroad, intending to visit his brother and come to an agreement about the estate they inherited.
“Maksim and Niko have not been in contact for a long time, and their relationship has become extremely distant and cold over time,” the synopsis states. However, on the way to Grahovo, something will happen that will change Maksim, and undoubtedly affect both of them.
Stijović once said that he was obsessed with the idea of sudden, dizzying changes in an individual's life.
"That is perhaps the most important point of this film... After that, a new reality emerges for the hero, something he had not prepared for in his previous life," revealed Stijović.
They play the main roles Momcilo Otašević i Marko Janketić, while the cast also includes Milica Janevski, Strahinja Bubanja, Srdjan Grahovac, Vasko Raičević, Gorana Dragasevic, Stefan Boskovic, Nemanja Dragovic, Jovo Petričević, Aleksandar Gilic, Ratka Mugosa, Dejan Jovicević, Nikola Jovicević i Marko Pogacar.
The film was shot according to a script. Stefan Bošković, and simultaneously with the creation of his novel “Place of Birth”. Despite this, both works can be viewed and experienced independently.

He is the director of photography Dušan Grubin, editor Dmitar Janjušević, production designer Dijana Vučinić, composer Ivan Marović, sound designer Dane Vlaisavljevic, while she is a costume designer Lina Lekovic. He is a producer Velisa Popovic in front of the production company Cut-Up from Podgorica. “Crna truba” was co-produced with “Pelikula production” from Belgrade, and the co-producers are Vladan Andjelkovic, Stefan Boskovic, including Boris Raonic in front of Radio Television of Montenegro.
