"Expression of the Invisible" in front of the audience: Ivana Borović's first solo exhibition opens at KIC

The first solo exhibition of paintings opened last night in the lobby of the KIC "Budo Tomović" in Podgorica. Ivana Borović entitled "Expression of the Invisible", which is the first time this author has presented herself to the public through a solo exhibition. The exhibition is part of the June program of KIC, which this month once again affirms the work of authors of different generations and artistic sensibilities.

The exhibition brings together works created in the last few years, and their common denominator is the exploration of inner states, emotions and personal experiences translated into abstract artistic expression. Through layered textures, strong coloristic relationships and free form, the author offers the audience space for individual interpretation and experience of each work.

The story of its creation also gives this exhibition a special dimension. As Ivana Borović points out, she began to engage more seriously in painting during the coronavirus pandemic, at a time when everyday life and social contacts were limited.

"While we were all locked down, I turned my apartment into a small studio, and that's when my story about painting began," Borović said earlier.

From the first canvases created in an improvised home studio to her first solo exhibition, her artistic journey has been marked by persistence, continuous research, and the need to express through art what often cannot be conveyed in words.

The title of the exhibition "Expression of the Invisible" symbolically refers to the attempt to record on canvas feelings, thoughts and inner processes that are not always visible to the eye, but are strongly present in human experience. This is precisely why the works do not offer unambiguous meanings, but encourage the viewer to find a personal relationship to the works through their own emotions and associations.

Ivana Borović's first solo exhibition represents a significant step in her artistic development, but also confirmation that creativity can find its way even in the most challenging circumstances, transforming periods of isolation and uncertainty into a space for creation and artistic maturation.
