Montenegrin director and screenwriter Maja Todorovic, with the project "V-Effect", has been selected for this year's generation of the "European Showrunner Programme", a European Union program intended for experienced TV screenwriters who want to develop into "showrunners". Maja Todorović is one of a total of twelve screenwriters from nine European countries who have been selected for the program.
The program is aimed at training and mentoring experienced series writers who want to take on the role of “showrunner,” a position that is in high demand in the American industry but significantly less represented in Europe. The program lasts six months and combines live modules with online lectures.
The European Showrunner Programme is implemented by the Internationale Filmschule Köln (ifs), which has been implementing this EU-supported programme since 2022. The programme is funded by Creative Europe, the European Union's programme for culture, through the MEDIA sub-programme dedicated to film and television. Key festival partners of the programme are Seriencamp in Cologne, TV Drama Vision at the Gothenburg Film Festival, and TV Beats, the series programme of the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival.
The program is managed by Jepe Jervig Gram, who worked on the series "Borgen", and with him are the "showrunners" Chris Chibnall („Doctor Who“) i Marijane Vent („Neumatt“).
Some of the projects Maja Todorović has worked on include the films "Ajvar" (2019), "Toma" (2021), "Šalša" (2024) and "Utopolis" (2024), as well as the film "White Washes at Ninety" (2025).
