Legendary actress Olivera Katarina has passed away at the age of 87, her family announced.
The famous artist passed away after a short illness, reports Nova.rs.
She will be remembered as one of the greatest acting stars of Yugoslavia, and her most important roles were in the films "Soldier", "There is Love, There is No Love", and "Partizani", but she was best known as Lenče in the 1967 film "The Feather Pickers", for which she was awarded at the Cannes Film Festival.
She played her last role in 2008 in the film "Charleston for Ognjenka".
In addition to acting, she also dabbled in music, mostly singing original folk and Roma songs.
She has released dozens of albums and hundreds of songs, and her most famous performances are the songs "Niška banja", "Đelem, Đelem", "Alaj mi je večeras po volji", "Verka kaluđerka" and others.
