The Film and TV Academy of the Adriatic Region has announced the nominations for the AFA Awards (Adriatic Film & TV Awards) for 2026, awards that bring together the most significant film and television achievements from the countries of this part of Europe.

The Academy was founded by members of the Adriatic Region Festival Network - Sarajevo Film Festival, Belgrade Film Festival and Zagreb Film Festival - with the aim of further connecting film and television professionals from the region and drawing attention to the highest quality domestic productions.

The nominations were voted on electronically by more than 800 Academy members, including film and television professionals from different countries and creative industries. The same Academy members will decide this year's winners.

The second edition of the AFA Awards will be held from October 23rd to 25th in Porto Montenegro in Tivat, where numerous authors, producers, actors and other professionals from the film and television world from across the Adriatic region will gather.

The opening ceremony of the second edition of the Adriatic Region Film and TV Awards will be organized at the Kotor-Lovćen Cable Car, while various events dedicated to film and television will be held during the three-day program in Porto Montenegro. The central part of the program will be a gala ceremony where a total of ten AFA awards will be presented to the best film and television achievements and their authors.

The winners will be announced at a ceremony on Saturday, October 24th, in Porto Montenegro in Tivat.

Producers and rights holders of feature and documentary films, as well as TV series produced in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Croatia, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Slovenia and Serbia were eligible to apply for the AFA Awards.

Ten categories and one new award

The 2026 AFA Awards are presented in a total of ten categories.

Seven awards will be given in the film competition: for best film, best leading actress, best leading actor, rising star, best director, best screenplay and best debut film.

The television competition brings three more awards - for best series, best leading actress and best leading actor.

This year's edition also brings a novelty. For the first time, the AFA Award will be presented for exceptional success in theatrical distribution, that is, the film that has recorded the highest box office revenue.

As part of the AFA weekend, the audience can also expect free screenings of nominated films, which will be an opportunity to watch some of the most notable regional works on the big screen.

Nominated for the 2026 AFA Awards.
