Four candidates applied for the position of President of the Board of the Regulatory Agency for Energy (RAE). "Vijesti" has learned that the current president of the RAE Board Miroslav Vukčević, Board member Branislav Prelević, Momir Škopelja who is employed by RAE and energy inspector Blagota Novosel have applied.
The competition for the election of the president of the RAE Board was announced at the end of March this year.
The government told "Vijesta" that the election of the president has been postponed until now due to procedural reasons and that the president of the RAE Board should be elected by the end of the year.
The Commission for Ranking Candidates will select candidates to propose to the Government. According to the Law on Energy, the president and members of the RAE Board are appointed by the Assembly at the proposal of the Government. Their mandate lasts for five years
The Board of the Agency consists of two members and the president, and decisions are made by majority vote.
According to unofficial information, the competition for the RAE president affected interpersonal relations in that institution.
Allegedly, Prelevic did not attend the session where the regulatory allowed income for energy entities was determined, due to disagreements with Vukcevic.
On Monday, the Board of the Regulatory Agency made a decision on the regulatory permitted revenues according to the requirements of the Montenegrin Electric Transmission System (CGES) and the Montenegrin Electric Distribution System (CEDIS) for the period from January 1, 2017 to December 31, 2019, as well as the Decision on determining the regulatory permitted income and compensation for the work of the Montenegrin electricity market operator (COTEE) for 2017.
Only CGES was allowed by RAE to increase its income by around two million euros.
For CGES, the average regulatory allowed income is 25.302.691 euros, for CEDIS 76.441.715 euros, and for COTEE 458,99 thousand euros.
The price of electricity for households should be 4,7 percent lower in January due to amendments to the Law on Energy, which was adopted almost a year ago. However, the bills will quickly increase after that, because the government should define a new fee for the incentive of electricity production from renewable sources by a special regulation at the end of January.
