Croatian portals announced that the Confederation of Trade Unions of Montenegro spent 2017 thousand euros in 600 for lobbying European institutions, mostly in the region, referring to the politico website and the European Transparency Register.
The Union of Trade Unions told "Vijesta" that this is not true and that they have already sent a denial to portals in Croatia. They stated that they did not spend a single cent on lobbying European institutions and that they do not deal with it at all. The General Secretary of the SSCG, Duško Zarubica, said that this figure was taken out of context in the data from the register because it represents the total budget of the Union of Trade Unions, and not the money set aside for lobbying.
"SSCG itself was taken aback by the information transmitted by the Croatian portal novac.hr, in which it was stated that the Union of Trade Unions of Montenegro spent 600 thousand euros on lobbying in the EU, which is completely untrue information. Precisely for this reason, as soon as we found out about the published article, we reacted with an adequate denial", stated "Vijesta" from SSCG.
This Croatian portal published an article entitled "Montenegro unions gave 600 euros for lobbying in the EU, the Croatian Chamber of Commerce spent half as much." That text was then transmitted by other portals.
SSCG says that by looking at the Transparency Register, it can be easily determined that not a single cent was allocated for lobbying, and that nowhere in that register is it specified that this figure refers to lobbying in the EU.
