DF MP Nebojša Medojević called on the Central Bank (CBCG) to compel Hipo Alpe Adria Bank (HAAB) to apply the law on the conversion of loans in Swiss francs to euros, and special prosecutor Milivoj Katnić to act on the four criminal charges filed against the bank.

"The law is concise and clear and does not leave any doubts and ambiguities in its application. It applies to all loans in Swiss francs. HAAB is doing everything to not fulfill its obligations and it is too much of an indication that it is working for an organized criminal group that has robbed citizens. With its application, that group would lose up to 150 million euros of extra profit that they were counting on if the law had not been adopted," Medojević pointed out today at a press conference.

He added that HAAB, with its law firm and individuals from the Central Bank of Serbia, is obstructing the implementation of the law and that it is time to clarify whether the bank is stronger than the state. Medojević stated that there were two suicides due to this problem, and that several loan beneficiaries contacted him. who are thinking about suicide.

"I appeal to the CBCG to protect the citizens, not the bank, and to start applying the law," Medojević said.

According to him, the Parliament should not change the law because the changes would be to the detriment of the citizens and to the benefit of the bank.

"It is humiliating that the people who are supposed to apply the law and who have made millions from people's misfortune are forcing the deputies to explain something to them. They are obliged to implement the law, if they don't want the CBCG to take away their license and the prosecution to get involved. Any change in the law can be interpreted as corruption by the Hipo group, and the question could be raised as to whether that group pays any of the deputies to change the law," Medojević said, adding that the DF will not participate in the changes to the law.

He added that the Montenegrin solution was regional, and that the Croatian Minister of Finance gave HAAB 48 hours to correct all mistakes and stop obstructing the application of the law.

"Our minister is silent, and the CBCG sides with the bank and participates in lobbying deputies to change the law," pointed out mMedojević.

The representative of the loan beneficiaries, Dragan Senić, said that they had hoped that the law would be applied in its entirety, because it is clear and precise.

"The bank is playing with the destinies of people in Montenegro, because it will not apply the law. It is necessary for everyone to get serious and apply the law as soon as possible," said Senić.
