The members of the Parliament of Montenegro supported the Law on the conversion of loans in Swiss francs, which will enable loans with a clause related to the Swiss franc to be returned in euros at an interest rate of 8,2 percent. That was the DF's proposal, which was voted for by 50 MPs, including those from the ruling DPS.
These loans were managed only in 2007 and 2008 by Hipo Alpe adria banka, and due to the change in the exchange rate of the franc and the euro, loans to clients were significantly increased.
The Central Bank stated in its opinion that the application of that law would not be valid.
During the session (around 21:30 p.m.), one of the proposers of the law, DF MP Nebojša Medojević, came to explain the act in public in front of the party, and he was not at the plenum when it was discussed. According to "Vijesti" information from the parliament, Medojević was on summer vacation in Egypt. He appeared at the session with a visibly tanned complexion, which the deputies commented on as a joke.
