Preparatory work has begun for the Lastva substation, which is part of the project to connect the power systems of Montenegro and Italy with a submarine cable, announced the Montenegrin Electric Transmission System (CGES).
The construction of the substation costs about 23 million. The expected completion date is the end of next year.
The majority state CGES finances the transformer station and transmission line from the coast to Pljevlja, that is, part of the energy cable project worth over 100 million euros. That part of the investment will be charged through the electricity bill - the electricity transmission price. The partner, Italian Terna, finances the construction of the cable - close to 800 million euros.
CGES pointed out that it is the most modern GIS technology, which ensures reliable operation, minimal maintenance and significantly reduces the impact on the environment compared to classic solutions.
Now, temporary construction facilities are being erected at the location of the future substation, the access road is being adapted for the passage of heavy construction machines and a connection to the low-voltage electrical distribution network is being provided, the Montenegrin company announced.
