The Government of Albania with the help of the German Development Bank (KFW) provided the missing money for the completion of the main road section of the road from Podgorica to Plav that passes through Albania. It is about a section with a length of about 15 kilometers.

This was announced today by the Deputy Minister of Transport of Albania, Ili Manjani, at the joint meeting of the parliamentary committees for finance economy and the budget of Montenegro and Albania, which was held in Tirana.

As stated on the website of the Assembly, it was assessed that this move by the Albanian Government represents a good step towards the completion of that highway, which is of exceptional economic importance for the two countries.

The meeting discussed the experiences of building a highway through Albania and the way in which the parliament of that country supervised the construction of that project, bearing in mind the announcement of the construction of a highway through Montenegro.

In addition to traffic, the topic of the meeting was the fiscal harmonization of Albanian and Montenegrin legislation with the European one, as well as the cooperation of the two countries in order to attract money from regional and IPA funds in accordance with the conclusions of the Berlin summit.

The meeting was held as part of the activities of the Network of Parliamentary Committees for Economy, Finance and European Integration of the Western Balkans (NPC) with the support of the Westminster Foundation for Democracy.

The president of the NPC and the Montenegrin Committee for the Economy, Aleksandar Damjanović, said that the meeting contributes to the strengthening of parliamentary cooperation and will further improve the good cooperation between the two countries.

It is the second meeting of two committees within the MPC activities, and the next one is planned next year in Montenegro.

It was agreed that the Albanian committee would prepare a proposal of evaluations and positions from the meeting which, after the agreement of the two committees, would be submitted to the Governments of Montenegro and Albania.

In addition to Damjanović, the Montenegrin delegation included members of the Committee for Economy Rešid Adrović (DPS), Almer Kalač (BS), Strahinja Bulajić (DF), Goran Tuponja (positive) and Nik Gjelosaj (AA).

The meeting was attended by adviser at the Embassy of Montenegro in Albania Zdravko Jovović and fiscal policy expert in Zarina Taja to the Ministry of Finance of the Government of Albania.
