The non-governmental organization (NGO) Euromost asked the Government to immediately send aid to the citizens of northern Montenegrin municipalities due to the difficult economic situation.
"The government should send aid to the northern region in food and heating, because the financial aid in the form of state aid to the municipalities in the north would be used for other needs," said representatives of the NGO Euromost.
They believe that every municipality in the north should form teams to help the most vulnerable population, in which there would be representatives of the institute for labor and social welfare, local governments and NGOs, who would monitor the distribution of state aid.
"In the north, not only families and citizens who receive material security are at risk, but also a large number of unemployed, pensioners, workers who lost their jobs due to bad privatization or whose income is so low that they are unable to feed their families," said Euromost. .
According to their opinion, aid should be distributed to all those who are at risk, regardless of whether they receive material aid.
"Does anyone in this country wonder how the citizens of the north will survive the winter, how they will get firewood and feed the children?" asked Euromost representatives.
That NGO asked the Government to make a decision at the first session on aid to the northern region, but also to municipalities interested in opening soup kitchens with state aid. As they explained, those kitchens would be supplied by the Government through the Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare.
"The winter period for the citizens of the north is very difficult, which is why they must be helped to at least get through that period," they said from Euromost.
