The regulation on the protection of personal data (GDPR), which has been applied in the EU since May 25 of this year, is already required to be applied by Montenegrin subjects from the banking, telecommunications, tourism and other sectors, as well as those who operate on the Internet, and at the same time process data of EU citizens, said the Agency for the Protection of Personal Data.
They explained that the Regulation also applies to Montenegrin companies if they have their headquarters in one of the EU member states or process personal data of persons in the EU.
"GDPR implies an obligation that the level of protection of personal data in these Montenegrin economic entities for EU residents whose data is processed should be at the level of protection in other EU members", explained AZLP.
According to the Regulation, companies and anyone requesting consumer and user data (date of birth, home and online address, bank account and payment card numbers, photo...) must obtain consent in order to be able to use it for marketing or other purposes.
