In several cases, the Veterinary Inspection found that traders made declarations that did not correspond to the product and the manufacturer's specification, and that this referred to meat products such as kebabs, burgers and grilled sausages.
Such products were destroyed on the spot, and legal and responsible persons were punished with misdemeanor orders or by submitting a request to initiate misdemeanor proceedings.
This was announced by the Directorate for Inspection Affairs when asked by "Vijesti" whether and how many such cases there were, because the Minister of Agriculture, Petar Ivanović, at a press conference two days ago, announcing that they are preparing a new law on food safety that will be even stricter, said that there are cases of traders importing cheaper food before the expiration date, repackaging it and changing declarations.
He stated that such cases occur before holidays or the beginning of the tourist season when food consumption increases.
