According to the basic macroeconomic scenario of the Ministry of Finance, the average inflation rate should be 2,9 percent this year, and 2,5 percent in the next two years.

"Inflation projections predict a slight decrease in rates compared to last year, as a result of stable or lower prices of oil derivatives and stable food prices," states the document entitled Pre-Accession Economic Program until 2016, which was adopted by the Government at its session on Thursday.

As stated by the Ministry, inflationary pressures are expected from the internal market, through the announced increase in the price of electricity and the increase in excise duty on tobacco this year, as well as through the growth of aggregate demand during the entire period, as a result of increased investment activity.

The pre-accession economic program is based on two scenarios - the basic macroeconomic one, which predicts continuous economic growth of the Montenegrin economy, and the lower growth scenario.

According to the projections of the European Commission, inflation in Montenegro will be 2,1 percent this year, and 2,9 percent next year.
