Excessive caution when choosing an investor who is granted an economic passport of Montenegro should not be the reason for postponing that program, towards which a pragmatic attitude should be taken, representatives of the Montenegro Business Alliance (MBA) assessed.
"We should have a pragmatic attitude towards this issue, given the increasing economic and other connectivity at the global level. Excessive caution against the wrong choice of investors who are granted an economic passport should not be the reason for delaying the adoption of that program," said MBA representatives.
They recalled that more than a decade ago, MBA started the story of economic citizenship, aware of the importance of introducing that program for the development of the economy.
"That story has been relevant again in the last few days, which is good and gives hope that we will finally implement that program, which, objectively, should not have been delayed too much," stated the MBA.
They added that the information system today provides an opportunity to easily check the credibility of investors who intend to invest in Montenegro.
MBA representatives believe that the issue of the price of the Montenegrin economic passport should not be a priority, but that it is much more important how much its future owner plans to invest in Montenegro.
"Montenegro is a member of NATO, which is getting closer to EU membership. It is a young country for which any economic stimulus is more than welcome, especially since obtaining economic citizenship is a way to ensure the long-term presence of verified investors who will encourage its activities economic and any other progress", the MBA announced.
They said that Montenegro has evident comparative advantages, which is known in the business world.
"Additional security of the invested capital is provided by membership in NATO. It is our obligation to constantly improve the business environment and make it as stimulating as possible for investors. All the conditions are there, and it is up to us to use them in the right way," said the MBA.
