Croatia will give consent for the installation of an energy cable between Montenegro and Italy, through its territory, after the completion of seismological research and mapping of the route, it was announced at the energy conference of Southeast European leaders, which was attended by representatives of the Montenegrin Liberal Party (LP).
The Liberal Party announced that during a two-day conference in Osjek, Croatian Minister of Economy Ivan Vrdoljak mentioned the submarine cable as one of the important issues connecting Croatia and Montenegro and announced that seismological research and mapping of the route will be completed during the first half of next year.
The conference, entitled Expanding cooperation in the field of energy in Southeast Europe, which ended on Saturday, was attended by the president and vice-president of the Liberal Party of Montenegro, Andrija Popović and Satka Hajdarpašić. The conference was organized by the Network of Liberal Parties of Southeast Europe (LIBSEEN), with the support of VVD, the liberal party of the Netherlands.
At the conference, it was concluded that cooperation in the field of energy is of crucial importance for the countries of the Balkans, bearing in mind the current and future joint strategic projects within the framework of the existing signed memoranda, it was concluded
"Also, the Ion-Ion Gas Pipeline (IAP) project was once again mentioned as an example of good cooperation, and that the preparation of a comprehensive feasibility study should be completed during the next year," the LP statement stated.
The meeting also discussed the importance of renewable energy sources, new energy sources, energy efficiency, as well as European funds that support projects promoting energy efficiency in candidate countries, which could significantly improve this area in Montenegro.
On this topic, the president of the Liberal Party said that the liberals in Montenegro remain attached above all to the idea of Montenegro as an ecological state, which therefore implies an increasing reliance on the use of the potential of renewable energy sources, which Montenegro has in large numbers, and on the other hand Liberals emphasize the promotion of energy efficiency while using conventional energy sources.
Events that marked public and political life in LIBSEEN member countries were mentioned and commented on, where, in addition to the presidential elections in Montenegro, the organization of the first Pride Parade in Podgorica attracted special attention in the region.
Popović pointed out that Montenegrin institutions have shown their readiness to suppress any form of discrimination and that no citizen in Montenegro will live in fear because of their uniqueness and that the Liberal Party of Montenegro remains dedicated to the fight for improving the rule of law and human rights in Montenegro.
