Milk is 10 percent more expensive from today, new price increases from September 1

Milk and milk products will be ten percent more expensive starting today, it was announced to "Vijesta" from the Podgorica market chains.

All types of meat, dried meat and canned products will have new, higher prices by about 1 percent until September 20.

Although the price increases, which have been announced for two months due to decimated agricultural crops due to the global drought, were announced for the fall, traders have already received detailed instructions from suppliers about the price changes.

Montenegro imports the most food from Serbia, but since the drought is not a local problem, the prices of products will increase regardless of the country of origin.

Pork meat is already 12 to 20 percent more expensive, fresh chicken about 13 percent, and frozen hake 15 percent. The price of flour is 12 percent higher and in several retail chains it was confirmed that it changed three times in 10 days. Due to the higher price of flour, the price of confectionery products, mainly sweets, is also expected to rise, but it is not known in what percentage. It is not expected that the current prices are final, but they will certainly continue to be corrected.

"For seven days now, we have received notifications about price increases every day. Up until now, it was the practice to notify us at least a week in advance, and now it happens that in the afternoon they tell us that there must be a new price on the shelves from morning," said the traders.
