Instead of July 1, new electricity prices from August 1

The new electricity prices will be applied from August 1, not July 1, the Energy Regulatory Agency announced.

The deadline was moved, after the RAE extended the deadline for energy companies to submit a request to determine the income that will allow them to charge through the bill. Elektroprivreda and CG Prenos had until February 29 to submit the requests, but they did not complete the documentation and the deadline was extended until March 30.

Electricity prices have been increased since January, and energy companies will prepare a new electric shock. So far, the income has been approved for one year, while from the summer, the higher costs of companies will be felt through the prices, because it is determined for a three-year income. The rules of the RAE announced a constant increase in domestic prices until they reach market prices.

The RAE explained to Mini Business that the companies could not realistically prepare the documentation by the scheduled deadline, because they were all engaged in the provision of energy.

The Agency emphasized that the weather had an impact on the condition of the transmission and distribution network, that "a lot of lines were damaged and a lot was invested in repairs." With that, RAE announces that it is waiting for companies to combine higher costs with the request.

The RAE announced that the deadline was extended due to bad weather and the introduction of a state of emergency and because, given that they will determine the costs for a three-year period, they need more time to review the documentation. According to the Energy Act, they will have four months to consider the request and make a decision, just as originally envisaged.

The income approved by EPCG and Prenos will be announced on July 15, and the prices on August 1.
