The citizens of Nikšić are not interested in the power line construction project, which, as part of the plan to install an underwater power line from Montenegro to Italy, also passes through their municipality.
This is a summary of the public debate organized by the Ministry of Sustainable Development and Tourism, with the support of the President of the Municipality, Nebojša Radojičić, who briefly greeted the 15 people present in the hall of the Council of Ministers.
Independent adviser in the Ministry, Nikola Petrović, said that the discussion was scheduled in the same way as the previous ones, in the coastal municipalities, and that in Kotor, three days ago, the hall was full, while Svetlana Jovanović, from the Institute for Urban Planning and Design, said that is a possible reason and the fact that there are no critical sections in the municipality of Nikšić that would attract more attention from citizens. The route of the transmission line mostly leads past the reservoirs Krupac and Slano.
The submarine cable would be built from Peskara to the Jaz beach, then it would go underground to the Blato location in Lastva Grbaljska, where there would be a huge substation (the relocation of which was requested by the residents of that settlement), and then the transmission line would go via overhead lines via Čevo, part of Nikšićka and the municipality of Šavnik to Pljevlja.
- We as processors, with the support of the Ministry, the Environmental Protection Agency and the Institute for Nature Protection, try to look at all the harmful consequences for the environment and we are obliged to strictly take this into account in the further process - said Jovanović.
She reminded that, according to the plan, the corridor bypasses larger settlements, but that passing through the national parks on Lovcen and Durmitor is "inevitable" and that it is "impossible to develop without changing anything in the area".
The plan to build a two-way underwater transmission line of 500 kilovolts, a transmission line of 400 kilovolts and an optical cable is foreseen by the interstate agreement between Montenegro and Italy, and it is opposed by the civil sector and the new authorities in Pescara.
