For the residents of Lastva Grbaljska, it is not acceptable that a converter plant and a substation will be installed at the Blato location, which they repeated today at the public hearing organized by the Ministry for Sustainable Development and Tourism regarding the DUP draft for the 400 KV transmission line corridor with optical cable from the Montenegrin coast. to Pljevlja and a 500 KV submarine cable with an optical cable Italy-Montenegro, with strategic environmental impact assessments.
After an almost three-hour discussion, it was agreed that the representatives of the locals and the representatives of the planners would visit the alternative location proposed by the locals, which is located in that place. Labud Mihović, the President of the Local Municipality of Lastva Grbaljska, reiterated that it is unacceptable for such facilities to be placed in the heart of their village, and proposed a location that they claim could be used for that purpose.
A few days ago, they had a meeting with the mayor Marija Ćatović, to whom they expressed their opposition to the installation of a substation and converter plant at the Blato location.
Ćatović supported them in that, which she confirmed today at the public hearing.
They are waiting for the locals with new proposals
Given that the locals could not precisely explain to the representatives of the planners which location they were talking about, it was agreed that they should all go out to the field together and see if there is a possibility to place those two buildings there.
Nikola Petrović from the Ministry said that they should send a request and a proposal in writing, and that this possibility will be considered after visiting the site.
Planner from the Republic Institute for Urban Planning and Design, Snežana Jovanović, said that the area needed for the converter plant is 400x400 meters, or 160 thousand square meters, and for the substation 200x400, or 80 thousand square meters.
"The total area for these two buildings is 24 hectares, and it is not easy to find such space on the Montenegrin coast," said Jovanović.
The location on Cape Jaz is a compromise, but not the happiest solution
Regarding the exit of the underwater cable from the sea, says Jovanović, five possible locations were considered, namely on the Platamuni peninsula, Nerin bay, Trsteno, a location on the western part of Jaz beach and on the western side of Cape Jaz.
"First of all, we had to take care of the distance from public beaches and protected natural assets and zones. We encountered a number of restrictions from various aspects, and most of these locations were assessed as unacceptable because they are public beaches. So the location on Cape Jaz proposed as a compromise between the aspect of technical convenience and protection of beaches and protected areas, but it is technically not the happiest solution.
However, in this area of the Primorje, apart from Cape Jaz and the area of Platamuna, we have no space for that cabal to come out," said Jovanović.
In addition to the Republic Institute for Urban Planning and Design, the developers of the plan are Institute IGH from Zagreb and Dalekovod-projekt from Zagreb.
