The Inpek company announced this evening that its white bread will not increase in price from 60 to 70 cents from Monday, as was announced earlier today by the Mina agency and then reported by other electronic media.

"There will objectively be an increase in the price of bread in the coming days, but the public will be informed about the date and level of the new price in a timely and adequate manner", according to the announcement of the executive director of Inpek, Radivoje Bakić.

Montenegrin bakers have been announcing an increase in the price of basic types of bread since the beginning of the year, as the price of wheat has tripled since last summer. Additional problems for millers and bakers were caused by the decision of the Government of Serbia to ban the export of wheat and flour, because they most often procured these goods from that country.

The bakery Nikpek from Nikšić stopped production on Friday because it did not have a supply of flour, and the traders owed them 430.000 euros for the bread and pastries sold. Some other bakeries are running low on supplies, and Montenegrin millers bought 850 tons of wheat in Croatia, the arrival of which was announced for the end of the week, and 6.000 tons from France, which would arrive in two weeks. Grinding and technological adaptation to millers and bakers would take a few more days.

The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Tarzan Milošević, said on Thursday that in accordance with earlier announcements, the price of bread in Montenegro will rise in early April, because this is due to the current flour prices. He also stated that an analysis of the situation should be prepared at the end of March, in order for the Government to determine the price of bread.

The annual needs of Montenegro are about 100 thousand tons of wheat.
