From Monday, a loaf of white bread from Inpek from Podgorica will cost 70 cents, 16 percent more than before, the Mina-business agency was told in markets that sell the company's products.
Some types of Inpek's bread are already sold at higher prices, although the Government announced that, in accordance with earlier announcements, there will be no price increase until the beginning of April. Inpek wholemeal bread, for example, is 10 cents more expensive and costs 60 cents.
Bakers in Montenegro have been announcing an increase in the price of white bread since the end of January because, as they say, all inputs have gone up, from fuel to flour, oil and sugar. Electricity for bakeries will, however, become cheaper by 25 percent, so no significant change in prices is expected for those that use electricity for production.
The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Tarzan Milošević, recently said that in accordance with earlier announcements, the price of bread in Montenegro will rise in early April, because this is conditioned by the current prices of flour.
He also stated that an analysis of the situation should be prepared at the end of March, in order for the Government to determine the price of bread.
