It cannot yet be guaranteed that there will be no increase in the price of electricity for households, because although according to the current proposal of the Energy Regulatory Agency, no change in prices is foreseen, a jump may cause what RAE intends to calculate additionally.
Regardless of the fact that the regulator has drastically reduced the revenues demanded by the energy companies, the Agency announced that it remains to eliminate the so-called cross-subsidization. By this, they mean that from April they will equalize the prices for consumers from the same voltage level - households and the so-called small economy (law offices, small businesses, craft shops, markets...), for which electricity is more expensive.
Since January of last year, households have been paying 7,4 cents per kilowatt-hour of energy consumed, without value added tax, and small businesses have been paying almost 11 cents.
"At this stage of the procedure for determining the allowed income for Elektrioprivreda and Elektroprenos, the prices are at the current level, but the final decision will depend on whether there will be any changes. Now nothing indicates an increase, or at least not a significant one," said RAE director Dragoljub Drašković. News".
Drašković emphasized that, when the debt to consumers based on overpaid electricity in 2009 is taken away, the regulator calculated that the income of energy companies should be two million less than last year's, which is charged based on current prices.
"But the discussion on the RAE proposal is yet to follow, and until February 17, companies can submit objections to the analysis and reduction of their requests. After any additional arguments are considered, the RAE Board adopts final decisions on approving the allowed income of EPCG and Elektroprenos, according to which the table will be determined with electricity prices," Drašković pointed out.
