Medojević requests that the Prosecutor's Office prosecute members of the RAE

The Supreme State Prosecutor's Office has the legal authority to intervene and "overturn" the regulations of the Energy Regulatory Agency and initiate proceedings to determine the criminal responsibility of those who established the bizarre methodology that enables the legal robbery of citizens.

This is the message of the president of the Movement for Change, Nebojša Medojević, after a meeting with the supreme state prosecutor, Ranka Čarapić, about the method of determining electricity prices that harms consumers.

PzP announces that it will send a written initiative to the Prosecutor's Office for Čarapić to respond.

"The prosecutor can invalidate the temporary methodology of the Regulatory Agency and protect the state interest. This should be enough public state, political and moral pressure for all members of the RAE Board to resign," Medojević called.

He emphasized that only in that situation, when there is no one to respond to Elektroprivreda's request for a drastic increase in electricity prices and due to the suspended methodology, electricity prices can remain the same from April.

"Thus, a legal basis is created to prevent the Government's partner in EPCG, the Italian A2A, from initiating arbitration proceedings against Montenegro if it were to claim that it was damaged because RAE does not respect its own methodology and therefore did not approve the requested price increase," Medojević believes.

They are looking for a quick response

Medojević says that Čarapić was warned about the possible risks that the citizens and Montenegro are exposed to due to the wrongly established methodology of the Regulatory Agency, which allowed EPCG to request a price increase for households of as much as 79 percent.

PzP is asking for a quick reaction, saying it will be too late to change things after the RAE adopts the pricing decision.

"If RAE were to gradually accept the requested price increase, EPCG would make a profit of 100 million this year. If it partially rejects the request, it may cause the Italian company to initiate arbitration, which could condition the Government to allow it to become the majority owner of EPCG." Medojević pointed out.

Medojević stressed that there is no need for electricity prices to rise from April, because Elektroprivreda, even with current prices, made a gross profit of 30 million last year, or 20 million in net profit.

"There is no basis for the prices to be increased, since even with the current EPCG, it can end this year with at least 30 million net profit," assessed Medojević.

He calculated that the rate of return on shareholder capital that A2A has in Italy is 3 percent, and in Montenegro it is asking for three times more - 8 percent.
