The wave of New Year's price increases of excise products did not bypass certain oil derivatives either. He raised the price of unleaded gasoline (95) again by three cents (or 2,43 percent) and in the next two weeks it will be sold at a price of 1,26 cents.
Even better quality unleaded gasoline BMB 98, a new type of oil derivative on the market from January 1, will be sold at a price of 1,30 euros.
Eurodiesel will cost 14 euros for the next 1,17 days as well. In Montenegro, as of January 1st, the use of super gasoline 98 and diesel D2 stopped. The maximum retail fuel prices are adjusted every other Monday, depending on the change in the prices of oil derivatives on the international market (Mediterranean Platts Ground) and the exchange rate between the euro and the US dollar.
Retail prices of petroleum products in Montenegro are approximately the same as retail prices of petroleum products in Croatia and Slovenia, although the standard of citizens in those two countries is much better than in our country.
In the last few days, oil prices on the world market have been rising again, so in New Year 2011, in all probability, new price increases can be expected very soon. So far, the Ministry of Economy has shown no interest in changing the current regulation and methodology for calculating maximum retail fuel prices.
Kotorski Jugopetrol, owned by Greek Hellenic Petroleum, is the main importer of oil derivatives. Until now, the state has not shown any serious interest in meeting other private fuel traders and enabling them to build their own storage facilities in the Port of Bar, which would enable them to import derivatives by the cheapest sea route.
Let us recall that the price records for gasoline were broken in the summer of 2008, when a liter of unleaded gasoline cost 1,31 euros, super 1,29, eco-diesel 1,28 and diesel 1,26 euros.
In the absence of real competition on the market and especially bearing in mind the rigid Regulation that has been applied for years when harmonizing prices, it is possible that new records will not be long in coming.
