Two of the three new processing factories, which the owner of Uniprom KAP, Veselin Pejović, officially announced last year for this year (February and June) will not be opened according to the original announcements. The reasons for this, a businessman from Nikšić told "Vijesti", are the weather (un)opportunities in the capital in the past few months and the delay in adopting the Ubanist plan for the second factory, which was supposed to be opened in June.
"Works are delayed due to weather (un)opportunities in December and January. How could we work recently in that wind? As you can see, we installed the plants and everything is new. We will produce 30.000 tons of alloys per year in these furnaces. The alloy factory (former Silumini) will be operational in about two and a half months", claims Pejović in the new projection.
He said that the delay in the original plans to open new factories costs him the most, but he points out that his goal is "to open the most modern industrial factories in Podgorica with the technology that exists today in the world."
About 50 people should be employed in the new alloy processing factory, located on the site of the former KAP Silumina factory. This investment, as previously announced by Pejović, is worth around 11 million euros.
"Vijesti" reporters visited several construction sites on the territory of the former bankrupt KAP and were convinced that Pejović built a modern gas station using natural liquid gas (imported from Belgium and France) for the needs of the Anode Factory and Unipro of KAP, with to the new company Uniprom Energy. He also built much better conditions for hygiene for a large number of Elektroliza workers, as well as for the workers of the future alloy factory, which was not opened in February this year.
"For all future factories, there will be no oil, diesel and fuel oil, only natural liquid gas. It is not only about savings, but also about ecology. We used to consume 10 tons of oil a day," said Pejović and pointed out that the investment in the new gas station was worth around five million euros.
In June of this year, Pejović previously announced the opening of a second new processing plant with state-of-the-art technology with a Turkish partner, the Čakjašar group, at a location within the KAP area, with an area of 20.000 square meters.
"The start of operation of that factory will be delayed due to the failure to pass an adequate urban plan, and everything else is going according to plan," claims Pejović.
Regarding the third processing factory, which Pejović announced earlier (in October of last year) that it will be opened in November 2019, and regarding the log (billet) factory, with a capacity of 70.000 tons, Pejović claims that the project will be completed on time.
According to Pejović, in the modernized "B" series of Electrolysis, around 3.000 tons of aluminum are produced per month, and the maximum production capacity is 6.000 tons per month.
Renewed green plantings
Over the past few years, Uniprom has invested significant money in planting green plants in the vicinity of the aluminum factory. Due to the introduction of natural gas instead of fuel oil, the smoke of the Anode Factory is no longer black, but yellow, as it was when the factory was run by the state, the owner of Vektra, Dragan Brković, and finally Rusi, before the bankruptcy of KAP.
In order to convince the "Vijesti" team to improve ecological standards, Pejović ate several olives from the plantations around the factory.
