The system related to the Government's program for obtaining economic citizenship is working very well for now, announced the Minister of Tourism and Sustainable Development, Pavle Radulović, adding that a transparent and direct process has been designed.
He said at the conference of honorary consuls that this is a transparent project led by the Government.
"The program is diverse because there is a clear line of what kind of projects are wanted in the south and what kind in the north of the country," said Radulović.
The government's program officially began to be implemented on January 1, through which a maximum of two thousand investors in the next three years will be able to acquire Montenegrin citizenship by investing in one of the development projects.
Radulović reminded that the marketing agents Apex capital partners, Arton group and Henley and Partners Government Services were chosen, followed by the selection of an independent auditor, and then the official process begins.
"They will be intermediaries between the applicants and the state. It's a huge bureaucracy and administration and to prevent that, we decided to hire those marketing agents. They will check all the documentation to see if it is sufficient, where the money in Montenegro is coming from, and in the end the company that will review your application will see the investment through to the end," explained Radulović.
As he recalled, the project of obtaining economic citizenship, that is, the tender, was launched in 2016.
"He was not successful because the commission assessed the submission of offers as insufficient," said Radulović.
He said that the Government then focused on the bottlenecks of the process, established a commission led by the Ministry of Tourism and invited all large companies to submit proposals regarding how they see such a program.
"Everyone submitted their proposals regarding how they think the program should work in Montenegro, and we made a compilation of them. We created a clear process, removed some things that were too complex to follow, so we came up with a clear and direct process," said Radulović.
He stated that for the first time in its history, Montenegro achieved a revenue of one billion euros in tourism.
"Last year was a record year according to various criteria, and the results achieved are not an exception but part of continuous efforts, especially in the tourism sector," added Radulović.
According to him, the achieved results are part of the involvement of the state, the corporate sector and large investments such as Porto Montenegro, Porto Novi and Luštica bay.
"Also, there are a lot of smaller activities that take place all over Montenegro. Smaller and family hotels are opening, which are doing better. "In the first four months, eight new hotels with 500 new beds were opened," specified Radulović.
He added that there are now 20 five-star hotels with 30 beds.
"Demand is huge, the market is changing and so are our clients, which is very important for us," concluded Radulović.
